Mr Cameron Johnson

Cameron Johnson has been appointed head of Linear Clinical Research Limited, Western Australia's forthcoming clinical trials facility.

Having held a number of coordinator and managerial positions across a range of Phase-I to Phase-IV clinical trials operations in Melbourne, Brisbane and London he brings considerable experience in this arena.

Mr Johnson made the move to Perth from his previous role in Adelaide as clinical operations manager for CMAX, a clinical research facility and division of IDT Australia Pty Ltd.

Based at the QEII Medical Centre in Nedlands, Linear will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of WA's premier adult medical research institute, the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR).

WAIMR Director of Translational Research Professor Peter Leedman said he was very pleased Cameron had accepted the position and was the ideal candidate for the role.

"Cameron has a huge amount of experience and understands what it takes to make a clinical trials operation a success, so we're very lucky to have him on board," he said.

"He is already fielding interest from pharmaceutical companies keen to look at conducting trials here, so we are looking forward to an exciting launch and to the development of the facility."

The state-of-the-art centre will run phase I clinical trials and is due to open its doors in the second quarter of 2010.
