[L to R]: Mr Laurence Iffla, Mr Dick Lester, Ms Barbara Whittle, Professor Lou Landau and Professor Peter Klinken
Two of the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research's recently-departed Board members - Barbara Whittle and University of WA Professor Lou Landau - have been awarded Honorary Life Memberships in recognition of their significant contributions to the state's premier adult medical research facility.
WAIMR Director Professor Peter Klinken said the pair had been crucial members of the Board over many years.
"Both Lou and Barbara have served on the WAIMR Board as Non-Executive Directors since our inception in 1998 and they have done a tremendous job in helping steer the Institute to its current position," he said.
"A lawyer and the current Chairperson of the Coal Industry Superannuation Board, Barbara has provided exceptional advice over many years and has been extremely generous with her time despite her other important commitments."
"Similarly, Lou - a wonderful medical researcher, clinician and former Dean of UWA's Faculty of Medicine - offered invaluable expertise and has gone above and beyond the call of duty where required to ensure the Institute's success and for that we are very grateful."
"We are honoured to have had two such respected West Australians serve our Board."
