WA Researcher Appointed to National Health Committee

Professor Lin Fritschi

Professor Lin Fritschi from the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR) has been appointed to the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Research Committee for 2009-2012.

The 16-member Committee is responsible for making recommendations on national research grant applications and funding, as well as providing advice on matters relating to medical and public health research, including the quality and scope of research in Australia.

Professor Fritschi, who has more than 15 years experience in medical research, joined WAIMR as the head of the Cancer Epidemiology Group in 2006.

She has a particular interest in occupational causes of cancer and has had more than 100 peer-reviewed publications published in national and international journals.

WAIMR director Professor Peter Klinken congratulated Professor Fritschi on her appointment.

"Lin is a remarkable scientist and this new appointment is proof her skills and talents in cancer research have attracted national recognition," Professor Klinken said.
