New Appointment Notice - Larry Iffla

The Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Larry Iffla as chairman of the board of directors.

Mr Iffla - a partner at top-tier law firm Mallesons Stephen Jacques - has been a member of the WAIMR board since February 2005.

Mr Iffla takes over from Richard (Dick) Lester who held the role of chairman for seven years and was a board member for nine.

Mr Lester will continue serving WAIMR on its Implementation and Project Building Committees.

WAIMR Director Professor Peter Klinken said he was thrilled to welcome Larry as chairman.

"Having served on the WAIMR board for more than four years, we are delighted Larry has accepted the role and his appointment continues WAIMR's tradition of choosing chairmen who have strong and broad management experience," he said.

"We are indebted to Dick for his tireless energy and efforts over many years, including overseeing the board as the Institute secured funding for two new state-of-the-art research buildings, and are pleased he will continue to be an integral part of our team moving forward."
